Understanding your target audience
Drawing on a range of methods from our user research, we put users at the centre of the output you are trying to create.
Our methods include:
Interviews
We facilitate In-depth interviews with users who are typical of your intended target audience to find out what is important to them, how they may use your product in their day to day lives, what their opinions and motivations are, and what your communication, product, program may need to look and feel like to be relevant to their needs. This will provide you with rich information about your users and the context in which they may use your service/product/information, so you can create something individualised that fits the true needs of your client.
We observe users interacting with your products in their own environments and ask questions during those observations to provide you with accurate and detailed insights on how easy, satisfying, and relevant your users find your product allowing you to create satisfying interactions users are more likely to return to.
Concept Testing
An early concept of what your product or service might look like is provided to people typical of your users, who can then offer feedback on how relevant and engaging the intended product/service may be for them. This allows you to understand if your product/service will meet the needs of the intended recipients right at its inception. Completing this early on in the project maximizes productivity, as you can invest your time responding to recommendations and verified pain points.
Focus Groups
We bring together a small group of 8 to 12 people who are your typical intended audience. We initiate discussions with them to gain insights into their perceptions, beliefs, and opinions about your program, campaign, initiative, or product. Through this we provide you with insights on what it needs to look, feel and be like to be relevant and engaging for your audience.
Co-design Workshops
We facilitate an activity based discussion with 8 to 12 people, typical of your target users to generate ideas to improve your service. This enables the users to play an active role in the development and design of a concept for a campaign, product, service, or program that you may be developing. Organic discussion provides accurate insights based on human experience.
Usability Testing
We provide tasks and scenarios to users typical of your target audiences to gain an understanding of how easy and satisfying your digital product is to use and navigate.
Diary Studies
We ask users typical of your target audience to interact with your product over a period from anywhere between a week to over a month. Users are asked to record their experiences and we discuss these to provide you with in-depth understanding of how easy to use, relevant, and engaging your product is to users in their natural environment. We also use this method if we are testing large amounts of content for a client looking for insight on understandability and application in a broader sense.
Card Sorting
We ask users typical of your target audience to organise topics under relevant headings to enable you to arrange or test that your information is organised under the tabs/headings in a way that users can easily find it. Streamlining the menu increases usability of a service so users are more likely to complete the desired journey, whether this be making a purchase or efficiently finding relevant information.
Design Artifacts
We provide a range of design artifacts including journey maps, user personas, storyboards and prototypes. Our artifacts provide a framework to understand and assimilate insights that arise from the research and will enable your organisation to take action.
Surveys and questionnaires
We design and analyse surveys to test and explore people’s opinions, motivations and behaviours to help you make decisions to inform your services, programs, campaigns and policies.
